A gorgeous, fast asymmetric brawler that sings at 2v2 and stumbles a little in straight duels. Add a few sets and it's one of the easiest "yes" recommendations around.
Best for: Couples and small groups who want a quick, characterful fight with real bluffing.
What it is
Unmatched is a head-to-head fight where every legend gets their own deck. This box hands you Medusa, King Arthur, Alice, and Sinbad, two double-sided maps, and a fistful of pre-washed minis. On your turn you spend cards to move, attack, or scheme, and the same cards do double duty as your defense. That tug-of-war is the whole hook. Players love how clean it is and how fast each fighter clicks into a distinct rhythm.
The catch
Here's the honest part. At straight 1v1 the base four aren't balanced, and players will tell you so. Medusa's ranged attacks cover half the board and her harpies cling to life, while poor King Arthur posts a win rate down around 31 percent in community tracking. Once the sidekicks fall, duels can flatten into run-and-draw. It's light, so heavy-game folks may want more meat, and four fighters runs thin before long.
Who it's for
So who's it for? Grab it if you want a beautiful, quick brawler you can teach in five minutes and actually enjoy losing. Play it 2v2 whenever you can, because teamwork hides the rough balance and the positioning gets genuinely clever. The minute you add a second or third set, the matchup problems mostly vanish and it becomes a staple. Casual tables and crossover fans will adore this one.
